As of 1 September 2025, Allied Actuarial Consultancy (AAC) has become part of Lux Actuaries and Consultants. Founded by Ala Karrain in 2010, AAC grew to become a leading actuarial consultancy in the Middle East. Ala is a registered actuary with the Central Bank of Jordan, the Palestine Capital Market Authority and the Central Bank of the UAE. He now leads Lux Actuaries Jordan’s expansion across Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.
Over the years, AAC served as the appointed actuary for more than 15 insurance companies in the region, covering assignments ranging from technical reserve opinions to the pricing of motor and medical insurance. AAC has been recognized by regulators and insurance federations for its high-profile projects and has developed significant expertise in long-term employee benefit obligations, particularly International Accounting Standard 19 (IAS 19) and IPSAS 39.
Ala began his career with the Regional Actuarial Department of American Life Insurance Company (ALICO) in Dubai before joining DIFC Investments as Executive Director of Corporate Finance, where he evaluated investment opportunities in the financial sector, including insurance and reinsurance companies.
He holds a Master’s degree in Actuarial Science with distinction from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Jordan. Ala is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (Illinois, USA) and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (USA).
