Andrew Slater is director of Lux West Africa. Over his 30+ year Andrew has worked in asset management, insurance and actuarial consultancy, and in many countries. Andrew is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (1997) and a CFA Charterholder (2005). He is an alumnus of University of Cambridge and London Business School.

Andrew’s focus on Africa started in the early 2000s and for over the last decade he has provided actuarial and investment advice to African institutional investors and their regulators across the continent. His expertise is in asset-liability modelling and management to ensure assets are invested in a manner which is aligned with liabilities and the risk appetite of decision makers. His clients have included the African Development Bank, the Retirement Benefits Authority (Kenya) and the National Pension Commission (Nigeria). The advice in Kenya, a World Bank project, led to KEPFIC, a consortium of Kenyan retirement funds making long-term infrastructure and alternative asset investments.

Andrew would be delighted to have a client in Cape Verde as it will allow completion of visiting all four compass points of the African continent, having already visited Cape Angela, Cape Agulhas and Rodrigues!
